The Power Of The Tongue

The Power of the Tongue

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eath the fruit thereof" Proverbs 18:21

"Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!" and "But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison" James 3:5-8

How often have we been guilty of saying... "Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred" Job 6:24? Or "Keep thy (my) tongue from evil, and thy (my) lips from speaking guile (deceit)" Psalms 34:13?

Jesus was just as direct in Matthew 12:37 "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Condemned! Even remembrance of them cut-off from the earth! That sounds like some pretty serious consequences. Perhaps we would do well to pay a little more attention...
